The winter weather in Upstate, NY has been a bit brutal in January. I was really hoping for a milder winter like we have had the past few years during which to train for my first trail marathon and 50k. Last week I ran my long run of 14 miles on a treadmill. Something I never thought I would do. This week I was determined to run outside. Yesterday the temperature was… Read More

One of my favorite things that I have gotten the opportunity to do since becoming involved with the Southern Tier Running club is photographing their races. And that means taking a lot of photographs of a bunch of the friends I have made along the way and sharing them all over the internet and there is nothing they can do about it. This was my second time photographing the New Years Day… Read More

My running goals generally revolve around types of runs I want to try and increasing distance. I think in 2018 there will be more goals involving increasing distances, but I think I also want to set some different types of goals. Some goals I have already talked about in past posts but some of them will be newer. Run a trail marathon Run my first ultra Increase my mileage from 2017 –… Read More

Monday was my first day of training for the Worlds End 50k in June. Lets just say it was sub optimal conditions. The weather here in New York has been below freezing almost every day for over a week now. Today was no different. I really did want to capture some sort of footage of my first training run to share with you all though. However it was way to cold to… Read More

I have talked a lot about how my photography often combines with my other passions that become parts of my life over the years. The last few years running has become a huge part of my life and my photography has reflected that. As my experience in running evolves and I develop new goals my running leads me to attempt new photography projects. In the first half of 2018 I will be… Read More

I have talked a lot about various goals I have and things I have done. Lately that has mostly pertained to running. I’m here to tell you, as if you didn’t know, that goals do not have to only pertain to your running or athletic ventures. It is always good to be setting goals for anything that is important in your life where you would like to accomplish something. I have many… Read More

Thanksgiving morning I photographed the Southern Tier Running Club’s annual tradition, the Pie and Glove 5K. participants in the race receive a pair of gloves and the race winner recieve pies as awards. There were 713 participants plus a great crew of volunteers working to make the race happen. Last year was the first time I had photographed this event. I waited at the finish line for the runners to arrive. I… Read More

Earlier this year I took this crazy mutt for a couple of runs. She is a beginning runner. Much like I was not to long ago she struggles to keep up. I really want to run with her more but she has a hard time keeping up. She can barely go 3 miles with me. Normally I would think this is great, but right now all my running goal have me training… Read More

Why Run? For exercise. For fun. For peace. For solitude. For energy. For fitness. For health. For a cause. For friends. To see new things. To have new experiences. To be part of a community. To share in something. Who cares why, just run.

Today was a tough day. Another dog with a trip to the vet. Another dog with a cancer diagnosis. That is two dogs with two cancer diagnoses in two weeks. Sometimes it just seems like life keeps kicking you. When we got home I just need to do something. I couldn’t just sit at home with my thoughts. I needed action. There was no action I could take to help solve our… Read More
