Training for a 50k has been a big change to the way I run. I have never done any kind of official training program for any race I have run. If I set my sights on a run that is a little different in the past I just change the way I run to suit the type of race I am striving for. If the race is longer than what I normally… Read More
The winter weather in Upstate, NY has been a bit brutal in January. I was really hoping for a milder winter like we have had the past few years during which to train for my first trail marathon and 50k. Last week I ran my long run of 14 miles on a treadmill. Something I never thought I would do. This week I was determined to run outside. Yesterday the temperature was… Read More
One of my favorite things that I have gotten the opportunity to do since becoming involved with the Southern Tier Running club is photographing their races. And that means taking a lot of photographs of a bunch of the friends I have made along the way and sharing them all over the internet and there is nothing they can do about it. This was my second time photographing the New Years Day… Read More
My running goals generally revolve around types of runs I want to try and increasing distance. I think in 2018 there will be more goals involving increasing distances, but I think I also want to set some different types of goals. Some goals I have already talked about in past posts but some of them will be newer. Run a trail marathon Run my first ultra Increase my mileage from 2017 –… Read More

I waited at the finish line for the runners to arrive. I… Read More

Earlier this year I took this crazy mutt for a couple of runs. She is a beginning runner. Much like I was not to long ago she struggles to keep up. I really want to run with her more but she has a hard time keeping up. She can barely go 3 miles with me. Normally I would think this is great, but right now all my running goal have me training… Read More
As a runner one thing that helps me stay motivated and get the training I need to enjoy the races I want to run is setting goals. The goal could be the race itself that I want to run or it could revolve around some other aspect of running. Goals can be time related, distance related, or taking on another specific challenge.
