Today is day 8 of my one photo a day challenge. For the past coupled of years I have been taking plants we’ve had gowning outside in warmer weather and move them indoors in the cold upstate New York fall and winter. I try to keep them alive for two main reasons. One reason is I want to keep them alive so they can quickly grow and blossom early in the spring… Read More

Starting of my January one photo a day challenge. The goal is to take at least one photo every day for the month of January. Then share one of the phots I take each day here on the blog. The only restriction I am giving myself is that the phot must be taken with a camera other than my cell phone camera. What a way to start off a new year. 13.1… Read More

So, in case I didn’t spend enough time on my feet today I decided to go out and see if I could photograph some Spring birding action. I have been to some local spots that are normally good birding lately, not for birding or photography but for photography, and I did notice quite few birds particularly migratory birds that move through our area in early Spring and then move on to their… Read More

Since I began training for my 50K in the beginning of January I have yet to run any trails. Trail running is my favorite kind of running and my training is to prepare me for a trail marathon and then a 50K, so I have really been itching to get on the trails. So far timing or weather or any other of life’s many variables have conspired to keep me from trails…. Read More

I have talked a lot about how my photography often combines with my other passions that become parts of my life over the years. The last few years running has become a huge part of my life and my photography has reflected that. As my experience in running evolves and I develop new goals my running leads me to attempt new photography projects. In the first half of 2018 I will be… Read More

Yesterday I read a tweet by someone that said he would gladly pay someone to write the beginning and ending lines of whatever project he was working on. I responded that I find the opening line of anything I write to be painful to get out. Just like this post. I could overthink and be paralyzed thinking of the best way to open the post. But instead I decided to just start… Read More

For me there is not a whole lot better than an event with dogs. The only thing that can make that better is if it is an environment where I can take photographs of all the dogs. Last year we went to this event for rescue and shelter organizations at a local winery. It is so much fun to see all the shelter/rescue dogs out int he public getting attention. The event… Read More

I’ve been wanting to share more, but I have been so busy trying to get a bunch of different projects done. So, here is one randomly selected photo from the Ossian Mountain Run at Swain Ski Resort. Many more to share in the future.

When your wife has a huge heart you end up babysitting someone’s five bottle feeding foster puppies so that they can go to a wedding. So I took advantage of an opportunity to get some adorable photographs. It is hard to take a photo of these tiny puppies that isn’t cute. Adorable subjects make my job easy.

One of the reasons I love trail running is that it brings me closer to nature. Trail running gives me another reason to get outside and enjoy nature. Even better trail running encourages me to explore areas I might not otherwise visit. Trail running also allows me to cover more ground in a shorter time than I would be able to on a regular hike, so I see more nature on one… Read More
