I don’t often recall a lot from my childhood, but one thing I do remember distinctly for some reason is having a camera. I had a camera that used the 110 format film. For those who don’t remember, or weren’t born yet, the style of camera that at least I had was basically a small brick. Especially when compared to what we have available to us now. The camera itself was a… Read More

I never thought I would write a sentence like this in a blog post, but here goes. Spoilers for season 1 and episode 6 specifically of the Apple+ TV series Silo. I am not a TV critic and I do not play one on TV. I watch TV and movies to be entertained. I want to Feel something when I am watching. Beautiful visuals and emotional stories. I am late getting to… Read More

Doing things that scare us is not easy. But, I would argue that it is essential for leading a life you will look back fondly on. Even if you don’t succeed at these things, you will have tested yourself. You will have gone on a journey. And you will have answered questions about yourself. You won’t look back on your life questioning yourself. You lived your life fully. For me doing things… Read More

For several years I started off a new year of blogging either talking about my past year in running and or my plans and goals in running for the year to come. I have not done that lately because I have been battling a series of minor injuries that have been preventing me from really training and striving for the types of goals I want to go after. Finally, I put aside… Read More

There are so many things to love about photography, but what I think it really comes down to for me is time. Time is always moving. We never get a second back. No replays or do overs. We can’t press pause and stop to enjoy this one thing longer than the time we have in that moment.

I support taking all the photos you can. If you want to take a photo you can take and you should take it. Take photos with whatever camera you have on hand. If you have a smart phone that has a camera then take the photo. Don’t feel like your photos are not as good because they are taken on a smart phone. What determines the beauty of a photo is not… Read More

Sometimes I am inspired to create some images that are unique and different. When I look for something to inspire me to get outside my comfort zone it often centers around light. I don’t normally think of myself as a particularly creative person. So, finding the inspiration to be more creative takes just the right circumstances. Let me think. Light. Motion. Lack of light. Moving light.

Over the years of photography I have added a few new photography tools to my kit. Each time I add a new tool it is because it serves a specific purpose. A purpose that will hopefully be able to capture new images. I often don’t get out to take photos as much as I would like during the colder months here in New York. So, whenever I have a chance I try… Read More

One of the biggest reasons I wanted to take on a one photo a day challenge a couple of years ago was to give myself permission to photograph things I do not usually photograph. Do things that I am not good at. Take chances. Take risks.

I love photographing waterfalls. What I love about waterfalls is the constant motion. Constant change. No two images of a waterfall are ever exactly the same. This goes double for waterfall images in the fall. I love to find a waterfall where there are leaves in the water. The leaves in motion add another irreplaceable element to an image. Leaves flowing down stream create interesting streaks in the water. They are there… Read More
