If you are anything like me and you enjoy physical media and books and arts of all types you probably have stacks and piles of things all over the place. Bookshelves both virtual and physical of books and arts of all kinds. I have bookshelves at home that are covered in art. Rows of books. Art books. Novels. Graphic novels. Some of these are books I read and loved. Some are books… Read More
When I have the opportunity I really like to make the most of it. Getting out on an all day adventure to photographs a variety of different subjects. On this particular trip the subject was waterfalls. Not just any waterfalls, but frozen waterfalls. Frozen waterfalls might be the best kind of waterfall. They just look so unique. So, when their weather was cold enough long enough I picked a day and I… Read More
There are a lot of places I like to visit over and over again. They are often nearbby state parks. The area where I live in the Southern Finger LAkes Region of New York is blessed with many beautiful parks.
We all have times when our fires burn hotter than others. Sometimes it is just the embers keeping us warm at night. Other times we are like a raging bonfire.
The author Steven Pressfield talks about Resistance. The force that keeps us from pursue it our creative passions. Ever since being introduced to his ideas it has become more and more obvious to me. The resistance is holding me back. I have struggled this year a lot with my writing here on this blog. And I have struggled pushing through the Resistance to work on other creative projects. Even saying yes to… Read More
I struggle with wanting to research things to death so that I can get it just right. Buy the right product. Use the right software. And on and on. When photographing public parks I often get hung up with excluding anything man made from the photos. I really try to focus on the natural part of the scene. It really bothers me if I look back at a photo and realize there… Read More
In June of 2024 we went on a camping trip to Shenandoah National Park. This was our first trip there. And there was so much to see and do. We camped at the Loft Mountain Campgrounds, which I really enjoyed. The campground had a nice combination of foliage and openness. We were often surrounded by wildlife. From the birds constantly flitting about in the bushes surrounding our campsite, to the rabbits along… Read More
I really did not have this on my BINGO card a year ago. As little as months ago I was just focused on trying to get healthy, stay healthy, and hopefully finish my first ultramarathon in over two years. I just wanted to have a good solid year of running culminating in one big event to cap it off. As I started to feel better and believe maybe I could actually finish… Read More
In what appears to be on its way to becoming an annual tradition I have been at the Mighty Mosquito 99 event 3 out of the last 4 years. My first appearance was in 2021 to attempt the solo 100 mile event. And then I have been back twice to participate in the relay with a great group of friends. And I probably would have been there 4 years in a row… Read More
Sometimes I don’t share things or do things because I don’t think they will be good enough. I think all of us can relate to a thought like that. In school we didn’t give an answer because we were afraid to be wrong. WE didn’t give our opinion on a topic because we were afraid that we would stand out from the crowd. WE just keep our heads down and try to… Read More
