I have probably written about The Corning Museum of Glass before. Probably in a very similar manner. So this may be a repetitive post for some who have seen other posts. But, I feel like this is something I want to write about even if repeatedly because it is important to me to write about other forms of art and local places I can engage with art. And I love to talk… Read More

In 2021 I did something I had never done before. I took on a challenge in my photography that would hopefully push me out of my comfort zone. I started a the year off with a 30 day photography challenge. During that time I took at least one, usually way more than one, photograph every day. And then I shared one photo taken that day here on my blog. Then after one… Read More

My photography typically focuses on nature, wildlife, and animals. On specific occasions like sports events I photograph people. Probably the least often subject I photograph would be any type of cityscapes. I love seeing beautiful photography of cities. Skylines of cities can be majestic. Photography of life unfolding in the concrete jungle can be inspiring. For me cities simply don’t inspire me to get my camera out, most of the time. I… Read More

I love zoos. We have had going to zoos as a tradition for us for a long time. I hadn’t been to a zoo in a while until recently. But, zoos were instrumental in shaping my love for animals and in developing and shaping my love and skills in photography. There can be some controversy surrounding zoos and the lives animals have there. They can be very important things that we should… Read More

When I think about photography I have two overriding philosophies. Take photographs whenever you can. Use whatever camera you have to take the photos. In photography circles a lot of debate and conversation can be had about when is the best time to create photography. While there are some merits to this conversation, to me the answer is always take photographs anytime you have the opportunity to take photographs. In this age… Read More

I have documented races in a variety of ways over the years. I love photography so I almost always have a camera with me regardless of how I find myself at a race. There is also a variety of tools available for photographing races. Sometimes I find myself at a race because it is an interesting community event or I have friends running the race. Or maybe I am on vacation and… Read More
I love to photograph flowers and sunsets. Sometimes I try to get creative and find unique ways to combine them. One of my favorite flowers are coneflowers. I bought some and planted them in a pot and kept them on my porch. It worked well for just such an occasion. The sun was setting over the trees. The sky was getting colorful. I placed the flowers up on the railing so I… Read More
I love public art. Public art gives so much flavor and emotion to a place. Having artwork on display for all to see helps to bring out vitality. I also think that public art is inspiring and aspirational. Being able to walk through a community and see artwork on the regular allows people to think more openly about art. People see art as a real tangible thing in life. Not just something… Read More
Over the course of 2021 I did something I have never done before. I took at least one photo every single day. Often many, many more than one photo. Then I took one of the photos I just created on that day and I shared it here on my blog. 2021 One photo a day project: One reason I wanted to do this is there are many times where I feel stuck,… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 351. Switching things up a bit. Playing around with food. Fruit. The two fruits I eat the most. Apples and bananas. Used two different background materials for nice clean non-distracting visuals. Illuminated the phot with two Lume Cube Panel Mini lights. Never realized there was so much texture in the skin of a banana. Not sure that will make me want to eat them more or… Read More
