As we age, if we are doing this life thing right we grow and we change, hopefully for the better, over the years. Our interests, beliefs, and values might change. The things we enjoy change. We develop new passions and some things maybe fall aside. When I was in college I thought my real interest was in psychology. But that interest could only thrive in an academic setting. We all have times when our fires burn hotter than others. Sometimes it is just the embers keeping us warm at night. Other times we are like a raging bonfire.

I struggle with wanting to research things to death so that I can get it just right. Buy the right product. Use the right software. And on and on. When photographing public parks I often get hung up with excluding anything man made from the photos. I really try to focus on the natural part of the scene. There are certain subjects that I really like to photograph. I will seek them out and try to capture a variety of images of them. This is especially true when I am pursuing photography in the area where I live. Sometimes when we travel we can get excited about photographing new things. And new things are great and should be celebrated. But don’t forget about the things you love already.

The best way to practice photography regularly is to use what you have available. So in that vein, I am going to write a series of blog posts about how I do that. First and foremost in photography you obviously need a camera. Any camera. Any camera at all. You can create beautiful images with any camera. This is especially true in an age when the majority of photographed are viewed on… Read More
