One photo a day challenge: Day 90. One of the challenges of this project so far for me has been thinking of something different to photograph each day. I could go out and photograph the same thing over and over, but that doesn’t inspire me right now. Maybe once spring is in full bloom and things change regularly that would be more of an option. Right now I really want to photograph… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 89. Today I decided to try something a little different. With the new spring plants starting to grow. Maybe I was inspired to grow. Take a Chance. Do something different. We have hyacinths growing as spring begins to warm. I decided to try to take a photo of them emerging from the ground. But something different to add to it. I took the photos at night…. Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 88. Today I stopped at one of our local parks in Elmira, New York on my way home from my commute. There used to be so many old majestic trees along this waterfront area and the park. These days there are so many fewer. I love all the trees that remain. This enormous Sycamore Tree is one of several behemoths still standing in the park. This… Read More

One Photo a Day Challenge: Day 87. I have at least 5 plants that I have successfully overwintered in my basement. If I hadn’t tried to overwinter them in my basement they would have died. I can tell that at least these 5 plants have been successful to this point because they are actively growing new foliage. I just discovered one that I had suspected would survive the overwintering had indeed survived…. Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 86. Today was another great day to sit outside at home and watch the birds in the evening. Recently I noticed the arrival of Eastern Bluebirds to our yard. The Eastern Bluebirds have been checking out the Purple Martin house in our yard as they search for a nest site. The martin house usually ends up occupied by Tree Swallows, but some day I hope to… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 85. We took our dog, Colton, out for a walk along the trails near the Chemung River in Elmira, NY. I of course took my camera as well. I had dog walking duties for the first half of the walk. Colton was being a maniac. It seemed he may rip someone’s arm off yanking on his leash. The hope was I could reign him in until… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 84. Todays daily photo is brought to you by having running friends. I didn’t know if I would run today or not. I thought I probably would, but I had a Zoom meeting right when I got home from work. So if I ran I would be more inclined to just run something short right from home. I would not have thought to take my camera…. Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 83. Our cat Paisley has a tendency to have issues with her fur. She has long, thin, slender, delicate seeming fur and it always seems to cause her problems. Periodically she needs to have a trip to the veterinarians for a little trim. Paisley is generally a friendly cat. However, post hair cut she seems to be sulking a little. She is being extra needy. Paisley… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 82. Starting this week I will begin a new part of my photography journey. I am going to begin teaching photography classes at 171 Cedar Arts. For part of these courses and workshops I will be teaching we will be on location. I am planning to have some of my teaching centered around specific locations in our area. Those classes will focus on photographing whatever it… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 81. Another beautiful day for bird watching at home. Warm temperatures. Bright sunlight. And Plenty of bird activity. I started off todays post work day birding with a walk around the yard. I wanted to see if there are any bird happenings that I couldn’t observe from the deck. Mourning doves were perched high in a tree. The titmice and black-capped chickadees flitted about the grape… Read More
