One photo a day challenge: Day 268. We took our dog out for a drive to relax. I wanted to go relax somewhere and watch the sun set. Our dog Brynn loves car rides. She isn’t super mobile these days so relaxing at the park watching the sun set seemed like the perfect opportunity to get her out doing something. We went up to Watkins Glen State Park. Set up our chairs… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 267. I wandered in the woods a little bit today. Just looking for a composition I like. Trying to find the right light. Subjects that fit together. The texture on this old downed log caught my attention. I liked the stream in the background. Soft and out of focus. Then I maneuvered my composition to include the two branches of flowers. The flowers are soft and… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 266. Today was a mostly rainy day. I didn’t really know what I was going to photograph today. But when I got home from work the skies had cleared. No more rain. The clouds were brightly lit. Seemed like a good day to wait and see how sunset turned out.

Yet another rainy day here in upstate, New York. But as I have said over and over, that means I am blessed with the opportunity to photograph more flowers with water droplets. Today For many of the shots I actually took a few flower pots off the porch and set them out in the rain. It was still raining and I didn’t want to go out in the rain. And some of… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 264. Peaches is such a calm and timid cat. 90% of the time she is either hiding from us or a dog or she is trying to quietly sneak across the room to solicit a little attention. She doesn’t run around and chase things. The only time she has any attitude is when she hisses at and occasionally chasses our other cat Monkey. Even though she… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 263. It is always interesting photographing plants. Unless they are in a small pot I can move around. I have to work with the plant how it has grown. These trumpet shaped flowers were protruding out towards the west. I liked being able to fit these two blossoms together in one photograph. Using a shallow depth of field and choosing the point of focus delivered an… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 262. I have used my macro lens so much this year. It has been so much fun. If you love photography and do not have a macro lens, I highly recommend one. There are so many fun and interesting things to do with them. Today I stumbled across this grasshopper just sitting on the fence. The grasshopper stayed there as I was putting away our garden… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 261. Today was a beautiful day for a race. The Southern Tier Running Club was hosting a local 5k and 10k. The race was right in my neighborhood. Perfect opportunity for some race photography. Here is one sample from the day. First male out of the gate. Check back soon for more photos from the race.

One photo a day challenge: Day 260. We have been fortunate to have more opportunities to get out with our dog Colton lately. The weather has cooperated. Not so hot for this big fluff ball. Now there are a few community events he can attend to help him get used to being out in the public. He needs to get readjusted to public life, just like the rest of us. Today we… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 259. Today I set out with my macro lens. I walked along the edge of a field with bushes. I was looking at the leaves and flowers. Finding subjects to photograph. I began to notice all the pollinators moving amongst the flowers. There were bees, hornets, wasps, and a cool looking beetle. The bees were moving too fast. It was challenging to compose and image and… Read More
