Kira was such a big beautiful fluffy dog. She was such a lovey-dovey kind of dog. Just wanted to snuggle and be petted. Kira came into our lives via our local shelter. My wife was working there. I was volunteering there photographing the dogs and cats. We each separately thought to ourselves I love this dog. Before too long we she found her way to our home. This photo is from a… Read More

One of my favorite aspects of this dog show is that there is always agility competition during the show. If conformation is about making sure dogs are physically healthy then agility is about making sure a dog can be a dog. In agility we see dogs honed. All the crazy things we see our dogs do that amaze us but are often one offs are taken to a new level during agility…. Read More

Josie was one of our sweet Bernese Mountain Dog tribe that we have gathered in our home over the years. We were fortunate enough to adopt Josie from a rescue out in Ohio. Josie was such a sweet and shy girl. She loved to spend time with us. Unfortunately we did not get to spend as much time with her as we would have liked, as is too often the case. One… Read More

My family is full of dog lovers. Dogs have come into all of our lives in a variety of ways. Hiro was such an adorable dog who somehow ended up at our local shelter. My wife worked at the shelter at the time. We shared information about Hiro with people we knew. It was so nice when Hiro was able to be adopted by members of our family. That way a cool… Read More

One thing I love about dog shows is discovering new dog breeds. Having the opportunity to be introduced to new dog breeds and learn more about dogs is one of the best things about dog shows. I like to get the program for the dog show and looking at the Index of Breeds that lists all the different dog breeds that will be at the show and reading all the names to… Read More

I will photograph dogs at any opportunity. Show me a dog and I will take its picture. In 2009 we visited Mount Desert Island in Maine. We 3were there camping at Acadia National Park. All the natural beauties of the park and the island. But there is always time to photograph dogs. This pair of Golden Retrievers were out at the park in Bar Harbor with Their humans. I couldn’t resist taking… Read More

It is happily one of my favorite times of the year. It is Wine Country Circuit Dog Show week. I will be spending the next three days hanging out and photographing all the amazing dogs. I will try to photograph a variety of dogs as I normally do unless someone asks me to photograph their dog for them. If you see me there feel free to say hi.

Over the years we have had many fun experiences with dogs. We have had the opportunity to have foster dogs pass through our homes. It is always an interesting and often exciting time to have new dogs around. So much fun and energy in the group of dogs that the dog featured in this photograph came to our home with. The group of puppies got along so well. All the puppies even… Read More

The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. Like many dog breeds, I have not seen much of the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon at dog shows. I love the look of these dogs. Although I wouldn’t even know how to describe it. Medium long wiry fur coat. The fur is colored brown and gray. The dogs head is mostly brown. This description really does not do the dog justice. I think this is just a breed of… Read More

The Windsprite (Whippet – Long Haired). The Windsprite is a relatively newer breed. One I have been fortunate enough to spend some time with. I was invited to photograph a breed specialty event. I was able to watch these graceful animals compete in agility. They showed in conformation. And then they ran in lure coursing. It was a really fun day. I love the combination of coat length and color on this… Read More
