I don’t usually write or release as many blog posts so close together as I have this week. My post regarding my running goals was meant to come out much earlier this year. But I just could not get myself to write it. Maybe I was afraid because I was committing to big goals and didn’t want to put it out there and commit. But now I am facing a real challenge… Read More
It is getting closer and closer to racing season for me. I have some big goals for this year. And I have been training hard to try and achieve them. Goals My goals for 2025 are in service of a larger longer range goal for when I turn 50. In 2028 I will turn 50. And after a couple of years of frustration with injuries and beginning to think maybe my days… Read More
I usually plan most of my races in advance. If not registered for well in advance then they are at least on my calendar so I can sign up for them if I decide I want to run it. But sometimes you just go run a race. In 2024 I paced a friend for 20 miles of the Twisted Branch 100k. Since then we kept in touch about our running adventures and… Read More
The Wineglass Marathon is a great local event that runners attend from all over. It is where I ran my first ever half marathon. I have stood along the course and cheered and photographed runners for several years. And the last three years I have volunteers as bike support for the event. And in 2024 I also volunteered to work at the Wineglass Expo helping fellow runners and their families get any… Read More
Looking back on 2024 I realize that I ran more races than I thought I had. In running we have a way of really focusing oin a our big goals. That “A” race we spent all year targeting and train gin for. Did we hit that goal. It is really easy to lose sight of everything else we did that year. This can be especially true if our big goals doen’t come… Read More
I really did not have this on my BINGO card a year ago. As little as months ago I was just focused on trying to get healthy, stay healthy, and hopefully finish my first ultramarathon in over two years. I just wanted to have a good solid year of running culminating in one big event to cap it off. As I started to feel better and believe maybe I could actually finish… Read More
In what appears to be on its way to becoming an annual tradition I have been at the Mighty Mosquito 99 event 3 out of the last 4 years. My first appearance was in 2021 to attempt the solo 100 mile event. And then I have been back twice to participate in the relay with a great group of friends. And I probably would have been there 4 years in a row… Read More
Earlier this year I ran the Sehgahunda Trail Relay. Sehgahunda is a fun running event. It is a trail marathon and relay. 26 miles on some of the most fun trails. Running through the forest at a beautiful state park in New York. I have run this event 5 times. I think I have run it in every possible configuration now. I have run it as a 4 person relay twice. It… Read More
It was a long road to get here. In 2022 I took a planned year off from running ultra marathons to let my body recover and to try some new things. Some of the new things included injuries. Nothing major and I didn’t have any big races planned that required training. I just coasted on my accumulated fitness. Basically just running races with no training. In 2023 I was hoping to return… Read More
I love it when I have an opportunity to photograph a trail race. One of my favorites is the Hills Creek Challenge. This is an event that is a timed race instead of a set distance. Runners can choose between 3, 6, and 12 hours. Durring whatever time they choose runners will try to complete as many laps as they can or want. Runners traverse a 3 mile loop around a beautiful… Read More
