One photo a day challenge: Day 286. In photography things don’t always go to plan. Especially in photographing any type of wildlife. There is the simple fact that sometimes despite any planning your planned subject just doesn’t show up. But sometimes things work out. Today while outside mowing the lawn I saw a praying mantis. I stopped and photographed it with my Samsung S21 Ultra. The mantis did not seem to be… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 285. Wandering through the woods. Silently observing. Looking for an interesting fall scene. Leaves and trees. Some still up high some scattered on the ground. Leaves and trees alike. Tattered and torn. From one life cycle to the next.
One photo a day challenge: Day 284. Today was a nice relaxing day at home. Brynn Snuggled me on the couch and we took a nap. The weather was nice outside. Good lighting as the sun was getting lower in the sky. Seemed like a nice opportunity to go outside to hang out with the dogs and create some memories.
One photo a day challenge: Day 283. When you feed birds seed at a bird feeder occasionally a bird or other critter will take a seed and drop it along the way. That seed may end up in an unknown and unexpected location. The seed may sprout and grow. The seed may become a fully grown flower. This year a seed took root in one of our plante4rs on our back porch… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 282. Today we went up to Seneca Lake State Park. Sitting at the tippy top of the north end of Seneca Lake. It was great. Cloudy and foreboading. The wind was whipping. The waves were crashing. It was perfect for a nice 4 mile walk along the walkway that traverses the width of the north end of the lake. Watching waves crashing. Birds Soaring. People kite… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 281. I was photographing random woodland fall scenes today. Really looking for scenes that incorporate leaves. There wasn’t a ton of color in the leaves yet. The leaves on the ground were not particularly colorful either. There was some fun stuff to shoot, but nothing was really catching my eye. Then I saw this leaf. I loved that this leaf looked like a little critter had… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 280. Something a little different today. Went with my small super portable set up today. Used my small Joby tripod. 20 mm lens on the Sony Alpha mirrorless camera body. Walked down to a small stream. Captured some images with longer exposures ranging from .4 seconds to 1 second. I was really trying to capture some of the color of the leaves in the stream. But… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 279. Today I decided to return to the same flowers I photographed yesterday. I moved the placement of the flower pot from the ground to the railing. This will create a different angle of view that I will be shooting from. I arranged my lighting in a different configuration. The flowers will be illuminated differently than yesterday. There was less rain today. The level of moisture… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 278. I think this has been the rainiest summer into fall season I can ever remember. It seems to rain so frequently that it is impossible to do anything that actually requires dry weather, like dry out a tent after camping. Fortunately photography doesn’t require dry weather. All this rain has really allowed me to explore shooting in low light. Using artificial light. Finding interesting angles… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 277. Quite a rain soaked day here in my neck of the woods. It rained almost all day. Consistently rainy. Quite heavy rains at times. It rained so hard that even the flowers under the porch roof were speckled with rain drops. Fortunately for me this creates a nice little opportunity for some macro photography. Working the light and shallow depth of field to isolate a… Read More
