One photo a day challenge: Day 281.

I was photographing random woodland fall scenes today.

Really looking for scenes that incorporate leaves.

There wasn’t a ton of color in the leaves yet.

The leaves on the ground were not particularly colorful either.

There was some fun stuff to shoot, but nothing was really catching my eye.

Then I saw this leaf.

I loved that this leaf looked like a little critter had sat here and at some sort of nut and the shell was left behind.

I love how the shell fragments are lined up perfectly along the crease of the leaf formed by the central vein.

The brown color around the outside is perfect in contrast to the yellow color in the center which highlights the shell fragments.

Just a wonderful little nature scene.
