One photo a day challenge: Day 174. Kind of a busy day today. But I still got my photo in. I actually couldn’t have planned it better if I had tried. Commute to work. Work at the office. Commute home. Change clothes. Go for a run. Get Groceries. Get home. Feed Dogs. Put away groceries. Eat some dinner. Somewhere in there take a photo? It actually worked out perfect. It was right… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 173. I enjoy walking through the wood with no real intent for my photography. Walking slowly among the trees. Slowly looking and seeing. I tread lightly. Stroll slow and easy. Eyes open. Trying to see. Trying to attune my senses to the forest. I want to become aware of the smallest things. The tiny details. Opening myself up to observe as much as I can. Trying… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 172. Spring is my favorite season because of all the new growth. But summer is not to be outdone. It is the beginning of summer and the summer wildflowers are blooming here in upstate, New York. Today I saw Bird’s-Foot Treefoil, Deptford Pink, and Daisies. And I also saw one of my favorite wildflowers Crown Vetch. I love these pink and white clusters of flowers. These… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 171. I have been unsuccessfully trying to grow milkweed in my yard for several years. I have scattered sees across my yard with no apparent success. People have even given me plants from their yards to try transplanting to our yard. That did not seem to take. On a few occasions milkweed plants have started to grow in my yard. On those occasions they have either… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 170. It has been a very enjoyable vacation. Sad to see it come to an end. Relaxing, reading, campfires, and our dog. Oh and the sunsets. The sunsets were beautiful. Thankfully our vacation closed out with this spectacular view.

One photo a day challenge: Day 169. Today was a mostly rainy day. We stayed hunkered down at our campsite. When the rain finally relented it was time for a fire. I positioned myself so the woods would be in the background of the photo. I took a few photos to get the composition I wanted. Then I sat and waited for the fire to spit out some sparks. This is the… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 168. Today we spent the day chasing waterfalls. We sought out waterfalls that were close the the road and had easy access. Our dog isn’t as mobile as she used to be. Brynn still loves to get out and explore. So we found ways to get her out doing what she loves. I bought a book detailing how to find a large number of waterfalls in… Read More

One benefit of relaxing and staying in one place on this trip is having multiple opportunities to photograph the same location. Sometimes the same location can look very different at different times of day. Even at the same time of day on different days the location can have a different look depending on different environmental factors. Today I photographed the lake at Higley Flow State Park during sunset for the third time… Read More

The other night might have been the worst thunderstorm we’ve endured while out camping, but today was the rainiest day. It rained on and off all morning. There wasn’t much relief in the afternoon either. Intermittent rains continued. Multiple times I started fires only to be thwarted by the return of the rain. We stayed at camp all day. Trying to make the best of it. Huddled up under our canopy to… Read More

Overnight into this morning we experienced a crazy thunderstorm. Wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. Probably the worst storm we’ve experienced while camping. We stayed dry in the tent. But when we emerged everything in our campsite was soggy. Despite putting everything we left out under our canopy. So we spent the day away from our campsite. We went out exploring the Adirondack region. One place we stopped was Buttermilk Falls in Long… Read More
