Hiking. I enjoy hiking. I often seek out trails to hike and explore them with my camera. This can vary from local river trails right in town, to local nature centers, nearby state parks and trails that traverse the entire state but passes nearby where I live. Some of my weaknesses as a holographic and human is that I don’t always have the patience required for a given situation and I don’t… Read More

Growing up we all have ideas about who we want to be as our lives progress. We think about jobs and careers that we might want to have. We think about things we would not want to do. And we also think about aspects of life we would choose to pursue or not. Get married? Have children? Own a home or rent? Live in a city or in the country? These are… Read More

We were expecting Bears and what we got was Deer. All of the research and information we read about Shenandoah National Park talked about Bears. It seemed like you would go for a casual stroll and just see a handful of bears right along the side of the road. Talk of bear boxes and proper storage of food. Reading about the highest concentrations of black bears. Constant mentions of bears on every… Read More

One of my favorite types of photography to pursue is landscape photography. And within that field of photography one of my favorite niches is waterfall photography. There are certain subjects that I really like to photograph. I will seek them out and try to capture a variety of images of them. This is especially true when I am pursuing photography in the area where I live. Sometimes when we travel we can get excited about photographing new things. And new things are great and should be celebrated. But don’t forget about the things you love already.

Water in motion is one of my favorite subjects. Water in motion never presents the exact same image twice. The water keeps moving and flowing, constantly changing. And over time the flow of water can change the entire landscape.

One of the easiest ways to make photography accessible to is to think about making it as simple as possible. One way to do that is in finding your subject. A photograph doesn’t have to include a once in a lifetime moment to be a beautiful creation of art. One of the simplest subjects for photography to me is trees. Trees are everywhere. They are so ubiquitous that they often go unnoticed… Read More

I love nature photography. One of the best things about it is that it can always surprise you. It can surprise you in so many different ways. You might see a flower in a different color you’ve never seen before. Maybe a tree you have walked by countless times is flowering and you have never before seen it flower. Or maybe migrating birds show up at your local park. Today I was… Read More

Running is fun. Having goals around your running can make running even more enjoyable. However, finding balance can be a real struggle. Accepting limitations. Making the best of it when things don’t go as planned. Trying to do the most training you can without causing setbacks. It’s all part of what makes running such an enjoyable sport, even if it doesn’t feel like it in the moment
