One photo a day challenge: Day 252. Have fun. Explore. Look around. See what you can see. Observe. Notice. Look down. The ground. The forest floor. This mushroom burst up from the ground. Pushing up through the debris. Growing tall.

One photo a day challenge: Day 251. Sometimes it feels like there is just constant rain. It can be very frustrating at times. It can be a real downer. Today the forecast was for rain once again. But, the storm held off. I got out and got some of the yard mowed. The hard was a lot soggier from previous rains than I had expected. It rained in the late afternoon. It… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 250. The sun had set on another day. But, it wasn’t dark out yet. Time to create some images. I was hoping to photograph some of our flowers. That is, if there was still enough light. The goal was to photograph the flowers without artificial light tonight. Using my Nikon 60mm macro lens. The f stop was set as wide as possible. Still a little too… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 249. Flowers have so many aspects that make them beautiful and interesting. The petals of a flower often play an important role in this. I really like flowers whose petals have an irregular look to them. Petals that seem to be randomly distributed. Even more interesting is when a flower has petals that are arranged in a more even and regular pattern, but there is an… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 248. I was out surveying the yard. Looking for photography subjects. Photographing various plant life. Using my macro lens. I eventually made a circuit of our back yard. I settled in to photograph the cluster of pink phlox that have been growing there for years now. I photographed different compositions of the phlox flowers growing there. Single blossoms and groups of flowers. Then I noticed this… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 247. I have been out exploring all week. So I have not been home to photograph my flowers growing at home. It is so fun to see that even after all season I still have flowers just blooming now. So now that I turn my focus back to the flowers at home I see a plant that is now finally come to its time of year… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 246. Today was a fun day of exploration. It simply amazes me just how much nature there is to see. I saw so many new sights. All without driving more than 2 hours from my house. Every time I daydream about escaping to some far of place I need to remind myself of all the wonders just outside my door.

One photo a day challenge: Day 245. Today I spent the whole day exploring waterfalls. And for me exploring means photographing as well. I always knew that our area was blessed with many beautiful waterfalls. However, I tended to focus mainly on waterfalls at our amazing state parks. Today I spent the day in Ithaca, NY. A place with amazing water features. I have explored the state parks there quite a lot…. Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 244. Today was a fun day. Explored some new spaces for me. Hiked 10 miles in an area I have not spent much time in. Explored two different areas to try to capture waterfall photos. First I sought out County Line Falls. The water flow was quite low there. Not the best for photography on this particular day. Then I ventured over to Onanda Park to… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 243. Today I spent the day photographing different areas along the Finger Lakes Trail. The Finger Lakes Trail is an amazing and beautiful trail here in upstate, New York. The are many places I have been fortunate enough to run on the trail. These places are so beautiful. They deserve to be photographed. I have not had as many opportunities to photograph these places as I… Read More
