I’ve made a lot of friends over the years and if you are a dog lover like me you count a lot of dogs among them. Two of my best friends became part of my lives completely by coincidence. We met our dogs Brynn and Kira at the Chemung County SPCA and they became family. You can meet your next best friend at the Chemung County SPCA too.

It is only impossible until you do it. This is the lesson I have been learning throughout my life both personally and professionally. The biggest obstacle to my success and accomplishing things I never thought I could is my own mindset. If I think I can’t do it I can’t. If I decide to do it I can do it. I love to hike and frequently hike locations like Watkins Glen State… Read More

We have been so fortunate to have our dog Buck as part of our lives for such a long time. Buck is  a 9 year old Bernese Mountain Dog. The average life span for a Bernese Mountain Dog is 6-8 years and we lost Bucks litter-mate Cami to lung cancer when she was seven. Cancer is relatively common in Bernese Mountain dogs. So Buck has already surpassed his “sister’s” life span and… Read More

I wanted to share a little bit from our experiences on our #OptOutside not #BlackFriday day after Thanksgiving. My wife and I took one of our dogs, Brynn, up to Ithaca for a hike and a visit to the wonderful dog park they have there. This is a series of photos of Brynn trying to chase down a ball someone threw at the dog park. She always puts in full effort but… Read More

We all have our own little idiosyncrasies. Sometimes we don’t really know why we do the things we do. Other times it’s pretty obvious why we do them. I know exactly why I do some of the things I do. The things that really move us, the things that are important a to us, the things we love. This is what causes us to do some of the strange things we do… Read More

A project that I have had in my mind for a while has been to do a photo book of dogs in the Finger Lakes region. The book would showcase dogs in all aspects of life from shelters, to family pets, to working dogs, and show dogs. I have been slowly building up a portfolio of photos that would fit in this type of project and I think I am ready to… Read More

Last weekend I took a trip with the plan to photograph some birds in the woods up in Ithaca, NY. However, the weather did not really cooperate with my idea of good photography weather. I generally prefer to use natural light whenever possible. On this day the sky was very overcast. There was very little light and particularly little making it into the woods. I decided to use this low light photography… Read More

I passively monitor birding issues and sightings locally by receiving email from a list serve set up by our local chapter of the Audubon Society. I read or at skim the emails as they come in to see if there is anything interesting going on in the area. Sometimes information that peaks my interest comes through. Recently there had been several emails sent out of people in the area reporting Redpolls in… Read More

The weekend of September 27, 28, 29, and 30th I attended the Wine country circuit dog show that took place at Sampson State Park in NY. I always enjoy watching all of the dogs performing in their various events. At this event there were agility trials, obedience, rally, and conformation events. I was fortunate enough to photograph this gorgeous dog during the conformation competition. This is a Norwegian Buhund. I also was… Read More
