I love doing new things. I take my passions and direct them at something new and off we go. Exploring new places and seeing new things out in nature revitalizes me. My photography provides me a guide to doing that. Having goals and objectives in my photography inspires me to go places I probably would not have gone otherwise. When the opportunity to photograph the Sharp Top 25k/50k arose I was excited… Read More
I have been working towards photographing the 200 waterfalls in this book that I have. Today I was able to make it to a few more. I went to the village of Honeoye Falls in the Finger Lakes region of New York. The first subject I wanted to photograph there was the waterfall, Honeoye Falls. I wanted to share a before and after photo series here. The image straight out of the… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 354. For a while we were having a good stretch of beautiful sunset skies. It has not been the case in recent weeks. I can’t remember the last time I had the opportunity to photograph a nice sunset. It doesn’t help that half the time I am not home from work yet as the sun is setting. But I have really been wanting to photograph a… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 344. There are a lot of places that I visit in order to run most of the time when I am there. Many of theses places are places that I love and many of them are beautiful. It always makes me sad that I often do not have nice photographs of these places because I usually am not there with a camera. I have ben working… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 343. Recently I went for a hike. And I went out for a very specific reason. I wanted to scout out an area I wanted to photograph. The reason I was doing this was so I would know how long a hike it would be to get there when I went with heavier equipment. Well, that day I did not find the location I was looking… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 342. Not the most successful attempt and night sky photography. It got cloudy faster than I would have liked. I struggled getting the focus dialed in. But, I like how this image turned out. Clouds moving through the sky. Trees with interesting lighting. A few stars popping out. I added to that with a preset in Lightroom.
One photo a day challenge: Day 337. I have really become interested in astrophotography and photographing the the night sky. I went through an online video course on astrophotography and I am in the process of completing another online training course on astrophotography. So I have been wanting to go outside and play around with it and see if it is actually anything I enjoy before investing too much more time or… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 331. Today I went for a hike to scout out an area for future photography. I went up to the upper portion of Watkins Glen State Park. What I’d call the roads less traveled of that park. I run on these sections of trails a lot. And there is a beautiful spot that I love. However, whenever I visit the park for photography I never make… Read More
I always enjoy time spent exploring the Adirondack region. Usually when I visit the Adirondacks that means I am going to spend a lot of time out hiking. Hopefully climbing some mountains. Circling trails around lakes. Or visiting other beautiful scenery on foot. This year out adventures were a little bit different. We went camping as usual. Camping in the Adirondacks is hard to beat. But instead of our campsite being home… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 310. Photography is always fun. Photography is frequently challenging. But photography is at its best for me when I am doing something new. And often fore me that something new is exploring some new piece of nature. Today was one of those occasions. Last night I opened up one of my Purple Lizard Maps and I searched out new areas to explore. One of the locations… Read More
