One photo a day challenge: Day 281. I was photographing random woodland fall scenes today. Really looking for scenes that incorporate leaves. There wasn’t a ton of color in the leaves yet. The leaves on the ground were not particularly colorful either. There was some fun stuff to shoot, but nothing was really catching my eye. Then I saw this leaf. I loved that this leaf looked like a little critter had… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 280. Something a little different today. Went with my small super portable set up today. Used my small Joby tripod. 20 mm lens on the Sony Alpha mirrorless camera body. Walked down to a small stream. Captured some images with longer exposures ranging from .4 seconds to 1 second. I was really trying to capture some of the color of the leaves in the stream. But… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 279. Today I decided to return to the same flowers I photographed yesterday. I moved the placement of the flower pot from the ground to the railing. This will create a different angle of view that I will be shooting from. I arranged my lighting in a different configuration. The flowers will be illuminated differently than yesterday. There was less rain today. The level of moisture… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 278. I think this has been the rainiest summer into fall season I can ever remember. It seems to rain so frequently that it is impossible to do anything that actually requires dry weather, like dry out a tent after camping. Fortunately photography doesn’t require dry weather. All this rain has really allowed me to explore shooting in low light. Using artificial light. Finding interesting angles… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 277. Quite a rain soaked day here in my neck of the woods. It rained almost all day. Consistently rainy. Quite heavy rains at times. It rained so hard that even the flowers under the porch roof were speckled with rain drops. Fortunately for me this creates a nice little opportunity for some macro photography. Working the light and shallow depth of field to isolate a… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 272. I love planting perennials that will return year after year for us to enjoy and for our wildlife to enjoy. This perennial is currently growing in a pot until I transplant it to a safe place in our yard. Many perennials only bloom for a relatively short period of time over the course of the year. But this flower has been blooming long and strong… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 271. We arrived home at just the right time. Put the dogs out. Got them fed. Then it was sunset. I wanted to try incorporating some of the flowers from our flower box into the image today. What do you think? Did it turn out ok?
One photo a day challenge: Day 270. Today was a beautiful day. The weather was nice. Mostly sunny. Temp was pretty perfect. Moring strength training routine. Worked the day job. Mowed the lawn. 30 minutes on the bike trainer followed by 30 minutes running. Cooked spaghetti for dinner. Relaxed on the couch watching a Netflix show with my wife. The dog started barking outside at just the right time to cause us… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 268. We took our dog out for a drive to relax. I wanted to go relax somewhere and watch the sun set. Our dog Brynn loves car rides. She isn’t super mobile these days so relaxing at the park watching the sun set seemed like the perfect opportunity to get her out doing something. We went up to Watkins Glen State Park. Set up our chairs… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 267. I wandered in the woods a little bit today. Just looking for a composition I like. Trying to find the right light. Subjects that fit together. The texture on this old downed log caught my attention. I liked the stream in the background. Soft and out of focus. Then I maneuvered my composition to include the two branches of flowers. The flowers are soft and… Read More
