One photo a day challenge: Day 208. If there is one thing this summer has brought us so far it is plenty of opportunities to take post storm photos. Rain frequently. Even multiple times in a day. Some things look better. The quality of their color is enhanced. Their character is changed. All this from the addition of some water. Rain brings the water. I bring the camera. I try to record… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 207. I went outside after dark for photos. The thought was to use some lighting to illuminate the flowers on our deck. I wanted to photograph the Cosmos because of their thinner softer looking petals. Hopefully the light would have an interesting look under the right kind of lighting. The way this image of a pink Cosmo turned out really caught my eye.

One photo a day challenge: Day 206. One of the best things about having a variety of interests both in and out of photography is the variety it puts in life and art. One day I am trying to train my lens on people running through the woods at high speeds. The next day I am photographing subjects that can’t move even if they wanted to. Today’s photography subject was back to… Read More

One phot a day challenge: Day 201. I am really excited about this photograph. Not because it is some amazing photograph or anything like that. I am excited about what this photograph represents. This photograph represents trying and failing. And trying again, and again until there is progress and then hopefully success. If there is something you want to accomplish, there is only one way to make it happen. Keep trying until… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 193. I am pretty sure one thing most people can agree on is no one likes rainy days. String a bunch of those raining days together and your whole week is shot. Rain is not a bad thing. But rain can make enjoying the day a challenge. Especially if you are the kind of person who likes to get outside and do things. Some people are… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 192. The opportunity to create this photograph arose out of completely unintentional circumstances. I wanted to plant some bulbs over winter to bloom this year. Planting them in pots to keep them inside so they would hopefully grow faster. I don’t like to waste resources. I had several pots of dirt from plants I have planted in the past. Many of these pots still had the… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 190. This plant became very wilted after our recent heat wave. It looked like it was going to die. The flower heads all drooped and died off. Then all the leaves turned brown. I really wasn’t sure it was going to survive. Then I noticed some new growth. Stems with flower heads began to emerge. It looked like the flower was resilient after all. I was… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 188. Today I spent a few minutes walking in the forest. The forest is so lush with green right now. The trees with growth along their bark. Fully leafed out trees. Understory fully grown. All of these contribute to the emerald green beauty of the forest. But today I was interested to see if there were any wildflowers blooming in the forest this time of year…. One photo a day challenge: Day 185. Over the years I have planted many varieties of flowers at our house. More often than not I have not been successful in having the perennials return in following years. But there has been one flower that has reliably returned year after year. Maybe I just don’t pay enough attention to where and how to plant the flowers. So then they fail to regrow the… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 182. I finally got around to planting some flowers we had picked up. I wasn’t entirely sure what I was going to do with them. So for now they are each in randomly selected pots. As you can probably tell by now if you have been on this blog before, I enjoy photographing flowers. There was one flower from this newest batch that I particularly wanted… Read More
