One photo a day challenge: Day 228. New flower day. Part I dunno at this point. The new flowers keep multiplying. I have no idea how that happened. But I still love having an ever changing selection of flowers to photograph. It is quite gloomy and overcast today. So I thought I would focus on the brightest of the newly arriving flowers. I trained my lens on this bright yellow False Sunflower…. Read More

One phot a day challenge: Day 227. So, some of my recent posts have talked about how I acquired some new flowers. And I have been trying to photograph a different flower from that new batch each day. Then share that new photos of the new flower on that day for this blog. I had been making progress on that. Not every day had featured one of those flowers but several had…. Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 222. In my previous post I mentioned I picked up some new flowers to use as photogrpahy subjects. So over the next few days I will try to focus on one of those new flowers as the days subject. I was drawn to this plant because of its vine like branching structure and the clusters of small pink flowers at the ends of the branching stems.

One photo a day challenge: Day 221. I have really been enjoying photographing flowers this year. But I have photographed all the flowers we have at home multiple times at this point. I really wanted some new subjects to photograph without having to travel. The other day while we were out I made it a point to stop at local plant nursery to buy new flowers. Specifically flowers I did not already… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 217. Stepped out onto the back deck with the flowers this evening. Post sunset. Its getting dark. Going to use some artificial light to illuminate the flowers. Not entirely sure what I was going to photograph. I had decided to focus my attention on just one large flower pot. This pot has a nice mix of flowers and they are all different shades of red. I… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 215. Todays photographs are from our flowers out on our back deck. The flowers grow wonderfully in our large flower pots on our railing. I love the bold colors. I also really like the composition. One flower up front and in clear focus. Another flower in the next layer. Just a bit out of focus. And then there is another flower in the back layer completely… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 214. Outside looking for photography subjects. Walking gingerly because my feet hurt. Moving slowly. Walking gingerly and moving slowly can also help find good photography subjects. It I was able to get around easily and simply walk briskly by these tiny flowers I probably would have missed this tiny Yellowjacket slowly crawling along the tiny white flowers near the ground.

One photo a day challenge: Day 213. More rain here in upstate, New York. At least I didn’t get it during my race. It does make for beautiful photographs after the storm passes though. I love the water droplets reflecting the light in combination with the brightly lit yellow flowers.

One photo a day challenge: Day 211. Today I went outside to photograph flowers from our selection of flowers we have planted in pots at our house. My plan was to just focus on one specific flower. I have always likes these strawflowers. I don’t think I have photographed them in a little while. So I turned mu attention to them. One pot particularly was growing well and had several blooms. Photographing… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 209. I went outside today planning to photograph some of the flowers in our garden. After I did that for a minute I decided to check out our milkweed plants. I started photographing the seed pods that are developing. Then I noticed out first Monarch Butterfly Caterpillar of the year. As I kept looking for more Monarch caterpillars I noticed a beetle. Then I noticed a… Read More
