One photo a day challenge: Day 317. During what was mostly a rainy and gloomy day the sun peaked out for just a moment. This was my cue. Time to make the photos. I wanted to get outside and see if any of the few flowers still out there were blooming at all this deep into fall. There were still a few blossoms on one perennial. And there were also a few… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 308. Continuing to explore the flower that remain blooming now that I have moved them inside. Today I wanted to focus on these teeny tiny flowers that grow on short wispy stems. These flowers grow in clumps and clusters. The fact that these individual flower blossoms are tiny will become evident. Normally when I get as close as I can to a flower with my macro… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 307. Today’s photo was supposed to be all about the flowers I had moved indoors. Then this tiny spider dropped down off one of the flowers. The spider started climbing all over. The spider stole the show. So here it is. Tiny spider on an indoor flower.

One phot a day challenge: Day 306. Cold weather is coming to my part of upstate, New York. Overnight lows below freezing for the rest of the week. I am moving a bunch of my annuals inside. I am going to try to keep my annuals alive indoors for as long as I can. Hopefully some of them will at least survive and go dormant only to return next spring. Part of… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 302. Working with more autumn themed subjects. Seasonal colors. A little more warm tones today. Corn Cob. Red seasonally colored kernels. I really like all the subtle shades of red along the ear of corn. Photographed with a shallow depth of field using my macro lens. Lit from one side with my Lume Cube lights.

One photo a day challenge: Day 300. More work with new photography tools today. Always fun when new photography items arrive in the mail. Today was the first run working with the V Flats World white background. These tools are going to be very useful in working with indoor photography subjects. This clean white background worked perfect to complement the browns of the desk and the oranges and yellows of the gourd…. Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 292. I like the challenge of taking a relatively common item and photographing it so close up that is almost become completely abstract. Photograph an object in a way that it becomes almost unrecognizable as what it really is. I am trying to photograph items that might seem common or boring in a way that they become interesting once again. Trying to bring new life to… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 291. This time of year presents opportunities to photograph all sort of interesting things. There are lots of nature related items that are commonly used for decorations in the fall. I recently picked up several items to experiment with for my photography. I just never committed to do it. That is until today. I love the Ornamental Corn. I really like the corn cobs that have… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 290. Today I went outside at night to photograph flowers. I took my Lume Cube panel mini lights out to illuminate the subjects. I decided to photograph just one plant. I chose the Strawflower. Still blooming strong even into the fall. I worked with the variety of flowers still in bloom on the plant. Trying to find different angles to view each blossom from. Photographing each… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 262. I have used my macro lens so much this year. It has been so much fun. If you love photography and do not have a macro lens, I highly recommend one. There are so many fun and interesting things to do with them. Today I stumbled across this grasshopper just sitting on the fence. The grasshopper stayed there as I was putting away our garden… Read More
