Often when I encounter wildlife it is a fleeting moment. There are few occasions when I get to sit and watch and study an animal. When I encountered this turtle it was just sitting along the bank of a pond. The painted turtle was enjoying basking in the sunlight. I was able to stand and watch. Slowly getting closer tot he painted turtle. After watching a while I was able to crouch… Read More
One species of snake I have been fortunate enough to photograph in the wild is the Northern Water Snake. I have seen the Northern Water Snake at a variety of locations. You might see one at a local park. Maybe you will see one in a body of water along the Finger Lakes Trail. There might even be one swimming in one of the Finger Lakes. I have been able to capture… Read More
I’ve always been interested in snakes. Ever since I was little. I always appreciate any chance I have to photograph snakes in the wild. Snakes are a challenging subject due to the way they move through our world. They are hard to see and can be challenging to get in good position to photogrpah. I think I often find snakes to photograph on accident or by pure chance. Sometimes I show up… Read More
I love to look in all the places to find photography subjects. We made a walkway in our yard. We put down a layer of mulch. Then we covered it with large flats slate stones from the stream in our woods. So occasionally I would lift up those large walking path stones. And occasionally there would be something interesting hiding in the mulch underneath. On this occasion I found a tiny little… Read More
I love supporting our local animal shelter. Fortunately we live in a community that supports them as well. One of the great things we get to do is attend local events that our shelter holds to raise awareness for the shelter pets. I am always happy to see people out with their dogs and it is even more meaningful when they are there to show support for our local shelter. Photo details:… Read More

I had a fun time meeting new dogs, playing, and taking photos. There is always a good time to be had meeting new dogs. Apollo really enjoyed playing with this dog toy. There was a nice big… Read More
For 8 years I volunteered at our local SPCA photographing dogs there so that they would have high quality photos to publish online. Having good photographs of shelter dogs helps them find homes quicker. Photos of happy dogs having fun show the dogs true personality and how that will manifest once they are out of the shelter. I had so much fun helping dogs in this way. I really miss doing this…. Read More
Sierra was our longest lived dog. She was the first dog. The dog that started it all for us. Such a mild mannered dog. She was like the peace keeper in the house. Any time dogs or cats for that matter got out of hand she would step in and stop it. She was a constant presence. A shadow. Moving silently with us as we conducted our daily lives. I love this… Read More
