As we age, if we are doing this life thing right we grow and we change, hopefully for the better, over the years. Our interests, beliefs, and values might change. The things we enjoy change. We develop new passions and some things maybe fall aside. When I was in college I thought my real interest was in psychology. But that interest could only thrive in an academic setting. Then I discovered photography… Read More
I have been struggling a lot to create any photography this winter. I can’t remember the last time I photographed anything. I don’t know if it just the times we are living in getting me down. Or that I have just been too distracted and unfocused. Allowing the flow of social media to wash over me. Or maybe I am trying too hard to find “balance” by spending a little bit of… Read More
“He who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and third time, till at length it becomes habitual; he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world’s believing him. This falsehood of the tongue leads to that of the heart, and in time depraves all its good dispositions.” – Thomas Jefferson, 1785 Follow this path into the sunset at one… Read More
“The deadliest enemies of nations are not their foreign foes; they always dwell within their borders. … The nation blessed above all nations is she in whom the civic genius of the people does the saving day by day, by acts without external picturesqueness; by speaking, writing, voting reasonably; by smiting corruption swiftly; by good temper between parties; by the people knowing true men when they see them, and preferring them as… Read More
“Although the job of a Congressman involves several different roles, the main ones are as representative and legislator. As a representative, a member serves as an agent for his constituents, ensuring that their views are heard in Congress and that they are treated fairly by federal bureaucrats and other public officials. As a legislator, a member participates in the lawmaking process by drafting bills and amendments, engaging in debate, and attempting to… Read More
“For twelve years this Nation was afflicted with hear-nothing, see-nothing, do-nothing government. The nation looked to government but the government looked away. Nine mocking years with the golden calf and three long years of the scourge! Nine crazy years at the ticker and three long years in the breadlines! Nine mad years of mirage and three long years of despair! Powerful influences strive today to restore that kind of government with its… Read More
The sky is rarely the same from moment to moment. That is except when there is a cloudless sky. And people often exclaim that it is a beautiful day with phrases such as a “bluebird sky”. And for me that doesn’t quite resonate. Sure it is nice if it is sunny and warms up. But to me a cloudless sky is least interesting and isn’t particularly beautiful. And I don’t really like… Read More
Wow. Photographing fungus. Gotta say of all the ways I imagined photography taking me I definitely did not see this coming. How did this happen to me. Fungus are interesting parts of nature. And the ones that colonize trees really catch my eye.
I enjoy photographing anything that creates a sense of texture. This can appear in so many different ways. From man made substances to natural occurring phenomena. From enormous mountains to tiny grains of sand. One thing I often feel drawn to is ice. Ice can occur in so manny different shapes, sizes, and forms. Ice occurs in so many different circumstances. But the one universal circumstance for ice is that it has… Read More
I love to photograph water. Particularly bodies of water in landscapes. More specifically water that moves through a landscape. It doesn’t have to be a huge flowing river, or a massive waterfall. Even a small trickle over some rocks can draw my attention. And the more opportunities for different photos there are the better. This is why creeks and streams are so amazing. They are abundant. And the landscapes around them can… Read More
