One photo a day challenge: Day 208. If there is one thing this summer has brought us so far it is plenty of opportunities to take post storm photos. Rain frequently. Even multiple times in a day. Some things look better. The quality of their color is enhanced. Their character is changed. All this from the addition of some water. Rain brings the water. I bring the camera. I try to record… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 207. I went outside after dark for photos. The thought was to use some lighting to illuminate the flowers on our deck. I wanted to photograph the Cosmos because of their thinner softer looking petals. Hopefully the light would have an interesting look under the right kind of lighting. The way this image of a pink Cosmo turned out really caught my eye.
One phot a day challenge: Day 197. A little more rain. A few more flower photos. More rain drops. Water on petals. Flowers dripping with water. Seems abnormally wet for the time of year. But at least its helping mew create nice flower photos.
One photo a day challenge: Day 188. Today I spent a few minutes walking in the forest. The forest is so lush with green right now. The trees with growth along their bark. Fully leafed out trees. Understory fully grown. All of these contribute to the emerald green beauty of the forest. But today I was interested to see if there were any wildflowers blooming in the forest this time of year…. One photo a day challenge: Day 186. Yesterday I wrote about one of my favorite flowers that I have been able to successfully grow at our house. This post is the exact opposite. This post is about one of my favorite flowers that I admire frequently at flower gardens everywhere. I see them frequently. They are beautiful flowers. And I love that they attract pollinators. These are also one of my favorite… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 185. Over the years I have planted many varieties of flowers at our house. More often than not I have not been successful in having the perennials return in following years. But there has been one flower that has reliably returned year after year. Maybe I just don’t pay enough attention to where and how to plant the flowers. So then they fail to regrow the… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 180. Earlier this evening it rained. I was surprised that when I went outside around 9 PM there were still water droplets on the flowers. I wasn’t sure what I was going to photograph. As I looked around I examined the flowers and eventually noticed the tiny things. I did not expect to end up trying to photography tiny spiders on the flowers. It was a… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 179. We had a little bit of rain today. The rain always creates nice photography opportunities for plants. This was the perfect time to get the macro lens out and take some close up photographs. I am planning to plant these plants in our flower garden. That location will bot be as easy to access for macro photographs. I am glad this confluence of events allowed… Read More
One Photo a day challenge: Day 178. Yesterday we went out and looked for interesting plants to bring home. One plant I found was this Flowering Maple. Not truly a Maple. But it has leaves similar to Maple Trees thus the name. I thought it was a pretty unique looking plant so I brought it home. I like how this photo turned out. The Maple leaf in the front out of focus… Read More
One photo a day challenge: Day 153. Lately I have been experimenting with using more artificial lighting in my photography. I have really enjoyed the flexibility the Lume Cube lights I now have in my tool kit have afforded me. I have used these lights to make photographing in low lighting inside the house possible. The lights have also made photographing outside at night possible. And I have used these lights as… Read More
