As a person who experiences significant social anxiety I find it easier to meet and connect with people if I know we already have a common thread where I can relate to them. Thing is enjoy in life divide roughly into two categories. I love the artistic and creative parts of life and I love being active especially if it is outside. When I can weave these two things into connecting with… Read More

I really enjoy photographing birds. I especially like birds that are mostly found in and around water. Birds that make their homes in or rely on wetlands for their survival. Wetlands birds come in so many shapes and varieties. From duck like birds to shore birds. And even amongst shore birds there is such a wide variety of birds. From tiny birds that are hard to see to the enormous Great Blue… Read More

I have always loved animals and nature. I am not sure I really thought of birds much growing up. But when I did think of birds I thought of animals like the iconic Bald Eagle. Bald Eagles were the one bird you saw everywhere growing up because it is the national bird in the United States and it appears in so much of our iconography. But I am here to tell you,… Read More

I love birds. Birds are where my photography journey really began. Watching birds. Learning about birds. Reading about birds. I never realized how omnipresent birds are.

One of my favorite kinds of birds to watch and photograph are ducks. Ducks while all being similar come in such a wide array of shapes sizes and colors. This is more of I know it when I see it kind of… Read More

When I first began to get interested in photography I was most interested in photographing wildlife. The first wildlife subjects that captivated me were birds of prey. This is in part because birds of prey are some of the most accessible wildlife to photograph where I live. And they were also captivating because of growing up loving nature and wildlife as a kid these were the types of birds I was fascinated… Read More

My wife and I were able to get out for a nice trip up to one of my favorite birding spots, Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge. We usually expect to see a lot of Osprey and Bald Eagles on our trips there, but they stayed away for the most part. We could see Osprey flying high in the sky off in the distance, but they never came close for good looks or photographs.

Different times of the year over a variety of different things to enjoy in nature. One of the most distinct times of year is the transition from Winter to Fall in the northern hemisphere. Especially the farther north you live. Here in New York there is so much that I look forward to. Spring in New York is a time of change. Nature begins to reclaim the earth in ways that shriveled… Read More

Yesterday was a fun day. We ended up goin gout for an impromptu birdwatching trip up to Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge was abuzz with bird song of every variety. The fast moving tiny warblers were among the birds singing. It is often easier to hear them than to see them. Especially seeing them well enough for a good look and photographs. On today’s visit the Yellow Warblers were all over…. Read More
