A Borzoi is a pretty cool looking breed of dog. Long lanky legs. Thin body. Long Narrow snout. When looking at a Borzoi head on they seem unusually narrow bodied. The only aspect that flows against the narrowness of the dogs overall proportions is the dogs fur. The Borzoi has a nice fluffy coat across its torso. The legs sport tufts of hair flowing off the back of the legs. And the… Read More

The Border Terrier is a small short haired dog. They have a short wire haired coat. Then on the face there are tufts of fur that form more of a longer beard and mustache type look around the snout. Border Terriers always look happy. Having fun trotting around the dog show ring. This photo shows a Border Terrier looking happy with their mouth open as they trot across the show ring for… Read More

Border Collies are a breed of dog I love mainly based on watching them perform in the agility ring. They are probably one of the few dog breeds that I have more photographs of while competing in agility than while in the conformation ring. Border Collies are quite amazing at agility. Seeing the Border Collies who have been training and working in agility for a long time speed through a flawless round… Read More

There are a lot of dog breeds with long ears. And there are other dog breeds with big saggy jowls. However, No other breeds can compete with the Bloodhound. The Bloodhound is the grand champion of sag. Saggy face. Long saggy ears. And loose skin that sags across its body. Black and Tan Coonhounds have this sad adorable face. Droopy eyes. Long ears that hang down almost farther than the neck. Saggy jowls that hang down well past the lower jaw. And somehow they still look adorable. The little tuft of brown in the eyebrow gives the face a sense of expression and intention. Photo details: Nikon D300S. Nikon 300mm f/4. Focal length 420mm. ISO 640. 1/160 sec. f/5.6.

The Black Russian Terrier is a fairly large dog. If you like dogs with thick fur you would probably like that aspect of the Black Russian Terrier. They have thick fur that looks slightly wiry, but I have never had the opportunity to pet one to verify that the hair feels wiry. The Black Russian Terrier also has an enormous amount of fur around their head and face. They look like they… Read More

If you stay for the entire dog show you eventually see all the dogs in attendance whittled down to the small number of dogs that will compete for Best in Show. The dogs that are in left in the show ring for Best in Show will be one breed of dog that represents each group of dog breeds in the dog show. Watching the groups and the Best in Show portion of… Read More

Bernese Mountain Dogs are our favorite breed of dogs. We have shared our home with 7 different Bernese Mountain Dogs. We probably spend more time watching the Bernese Mountain Dogs at the dog show than any other breed. It has been really fun being around the Bernese Mountain Dogs during dog shows. It lead to us making friends with other Bernese Mountain Dog lovers. We were even introduced to and joined our… Read More

Belgian Sheepdogs are beautiful dogs. Jet black fur. A long fluffy coat. Looks luxurious to pet and snuggle. I thought about cropping the photo to remove the person walking along side the dog from the image. But there is something I like about that aspect in the image. The handler walking alongside the Belgian Sheepdog combined with the fence in the background helps to provide a sense of size. The person at… Read More

The Bedlington Terrier has such an interesting look when groomed for a dog show. The dogs look is reminiscent of a sheep. I don’t think I have seen another breed of dog whose look is anything like the Bedlington Terrier. With the thick fluffy white fur across most of their body then trimmed short along neck, head and ears it is quite the contrast on the body of the Bedlington Terrier. It… Read More
