As I have mentioned I love big dogs. I really am not a small dog person. The Chihuahua epitomizes the small toy dog. The Chihuahua is everything that I don’t really like about small dogs. However, I totally understand why other people love them. There is a dog for every kind of person. But if you want to turn me around about a particular dog breed. Let me see that breed of… Read More

I have always liked Labrador Retriever type dogs. The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is so reminiscent of that type of dog. Except they have this extra. I remember the first time I saw a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. It wasn’t even at a dog show. Chesapeake Bay Retrievers were part of some exhibit or something that was happening at our county fair. I think I fell in love with them right there. There is… Read More

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Tiny little bundles of cuteness. They are such tiny fluffy dogs. Cute fur. Always happy and jolly. They seem like the perfect dog if you just want to hold a dog on your lap and enjoy the day. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in the photo is sitting with their human enjoying the dog show with the rest of us. Beautiful long brown hair blowing back across… Read More

I think if I was ever going to have a small dog I think it would be a Corgi. And I like dogs with long fluffy tails. So that makes the Cardigan Welsh Corgi the obvious choice. If you look at the Cardigan Welsh Corgi they look like an average sized dog who just got put on the wrong set of legs. The head body and tail of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi… Read More

The Cane Corso is a cool looking dog. They have a variety to their size and stature. Their coat color is pretty variable as well. But to me it seems like they almost have two distinct presentations. There is the beatific look and the tough guy look. Some of the Cane Corsos I see at dog shows look sweet and calm and gentle. They look like they would be peaceful lap dogs…. Read More

I can’t really nail it down, but the Canaan Dog really fascinates me. I don’t really know much about them. But every time I see a Canaan Dog at a dog show I can imagine that they are a dog I would enjoy having in my home. They are a good medium sized dog. The Canaan Dog always seems so alert and happy. And they seem like an active type dog I… Read More

Cairn Terrier. Small. Wiry hair. They have an almost bristly looking face. Like it would feel like hair brush. I like this shade of brown of coat color this dog has. This Cairn Terrier has good focus. They are paying attention to their handler even as the show judge is walking towards them. The judge is approaching the Cairn Terrier to examine them and see how closely the dog conforms to breed… Read More

The Bullmastiff is a large strong muscular looking dog. Not the largest or heaviest of the large breed dogs, but they might be the biggest bang for your buck. The Bullmastiff has a thick sturdy frame. And that frame is packed thick with muscles. As large as they are they still manage to look graceful. Look at this photo of a Bullmastiff trotting across the show ring. As the Bullmastiff is moveing… Read More

The Bulldog. I don’t really know what else to say. I think for most people when you see or hear the word Bulldog an image instantly pops into your head. Short stocky legs. Thick strong bodies. Large heads. Wrinkled faces. Big Mouths. All Jowls. Most dogs the height of a Bulldog do not have the thick bodies and legs they have. Short dogs are usually more petite. Not sure anyone is just… Read More

The Brussels Griffon is a toy breed of dog. They are quite small. Weighing in at the 8-10 lb. range. That is smaller than cats I have had. Their wiry coat gives the Brussels Griffon a distinct look to match its personality. The way the wiry hair protrudes from its face is definitely a look. One thing I enjoy about photographing smaller breeds of dogs is that it can be easier to… Read More
