One Photo A Day | Day 110 | Birding At Home
One photo a day challenge: Day 110.
I worked all day at my day job today. Then in the evening I was teaching a photography class at 171 Cedar Arts.
In between I wanted to step outside our house and photograph the birds I had heard chirping all morning. The birds were busy outside pillaging our bird feeders. I figured it would be a good day to pop outside and watch them for a bit after work and then capture some photos.
When I went outside it was cold and gloomy. The birds fled. No one was in a rush to visit the feeder with me out there today.
Eventually the birds began to return. Black Capped Chickadees, American Goldfinch, Dark Eyed Junco, White Breasted Nuthatch, Red Winged Blackbirds, Pine Siskin, and even a Northern Flicker made an appearance.
Unfortunately most of the birds stayed high in the tree that would have me photographing up into the gloomy clouds. That would result in equally dreary and gloomy looking bird photos.
Eventually some of the birds began visiting the bird feeders. That allowed me to catch this image of a Dark Eyed Junco perched on a tree branch before they swooped down to the ground to forage for food.
