Make The Most Of Your Local Parks

If you are thinking about going gout to take some photos don’t sleep on your small local parks. It is easy to always desire a trip to our many beautiful state and national parks. Going out to someplace that is more wild. Especially if you are a nature, landscape, or wildlife photographer. But, those are not the only places to find those parts of our natural world.

There is a lot of peace and pleasure to be found in the simple joys of a local park. Sure it isn’t going to be that sweeping vista, but that doesn’t mean it is devoid of beauty.

Each local park I enjoy holds its own special characteristics that bring a bit of joy to my life. And they make fore special spots for photography.

Every park is special

Trying to plan a dedicated photography trip somewhere outside our local area can be challenging and stressful. The plans have to be made. Gear has to be packed. Hope for good weather. Either do a lot of research before hand about where we are going to see what the landscape is like and what wildlife is there or just head out and hope for the best. And neither option guarantees a good outcome with the photography. So we may go through all this effort and end up disappointed in the results.

Why not keep it a little smaller stakes and increase the likelihood that we will enjoy ourselves and create photos. Or at the very least not be too disappointed. After all the effort level required was lower. Lower cost can lead to higher rewards in this way.

Likely you know your local parks well. You know what exactly you are likely to see and you can plan accordingly. Increasing the odds that you will have a positive experience. And increasing the likelihood you will create some beautiful photographs.

Photograph what you know to expect

One park I like to go to I think of as the place I can reliably photograph rabbits. There is another park where I know birds often stop over during spring migration, so I have opportunities to see birds that are not often seen where I live or at least see the early birds of the birds just migrating into our area in the spring. And there are other parks where I know they often have beautiful flower plantings I can photograph. And still other parks have nice walking and hiking paths to enjoy and use in my photography,

Next time you plan to leave for some photography think about all those nearby parks that you frequent and what you enjoy about them. Then go out and capture that essence in your photography.
