Wildlife Portrait | Mallard | New York

Photographing the Mallards at our local park is fun and great practice for all your wildlife photogrpahy ideas.

You rarely have to worry about if you will see subjects to photograph.

The Mallards are so used to people that you can experiement and try all sorts of differnet things.

Practice close ups. Mallards in flight. Photograph groups of Mallards.

Try slower shutter speeds. Photograph from different angles.

But if you love wildlife photography that looks like portraiture then finding a local park where the birds are used to people is a great spot. You can capture beautiful close up images of the birds.

I love the dazzling green of this Mallards head and the dappling of water droplets.
