One photo a day challenge: Day 76.

For most of winter we had thick snow covering the ground. But it has warmed up considerably. And now it is nearly spring.

The warmer weather has melted almost all the snow in low lying areas. Some snow remains at higher elevations. The snow is clinging in the forest.

This small stream runs through the woods where we live. It is mostly free flowing water now that the winter ice has melted.

However, ice still dots the landscape sporadically throughout the stream.

In this photo you can see the ice covered rock in the foreground and more ice in the background. But despite the ice the water is clearly flowing free over the rocks in the photo as well. Soon all the remnants of winter will be washed away.
