My Favorite Slice Of Nature: Tanglewood Nature Center

I love to get out into nature. Often when I plan to go outside there is a specific reason. I want to photograph a waterfall. Or I want to hike some trails.

And some places are great for specific experiences. But what really can make a place special is if it is a haven of a wide variety of natural experiences. This is what I love about Tanglewood Nature Center.

My first inspiration for getting into photography was through wildlife photography. Tanglewood Nature Center is perfect for this. There are an assortment of mammals to see here: White tailed Deer, rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks, and I have even seen a fisher here. And if you like bird watching this is a great place for that as well. A wide variety of birds can be seen here. Songbirds including nesting Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows. Waterfowl like ducks, geese and heron. And raptors like hawks.

Tanglewood is also a great place to photograph wildflowers. In early spring wildflowers begin to pop up along the hiking trails through the woods. Then in summer the fields are full of a variety of flowers including milkweed that attract Monarch butterflies.

Sunset views at Tanglewood Nature Center.

I have always enjoyed watching the sun set. Tanglewood has multiple locations that are great for relaxing and watching the sun set. On place I haven’t gone out to to view the sunset is along the bluffs on the red trail. Have you been there? Let me know how good the view is.

Among my favorite activities are hiking and trail running. I love Tanglewood for these activities. Tanglewood offers a wide variety of terrain that is great for hiking and trail running. Whatever type of terrain and scenery you want to see Tanglewood has it to offer.
