Agility In The Rain | English Cocker Spaniel | New York

One thing that can add an extra layer to any aspect of a dog show is weather. Dog shows pretty much continue as planned no matter what the weather is like.

Having a variety of weather can create interesting looks on both the dogs and their human companions. The weather can also make events like agility more complex and interesting.

The English Cocker Spaniel is not a breed of dog I have seen a lot of. So, it was very cool to see an English Cocker Spaniel competing in agility.

The rain makes the agility course more challenging. Grass gets wet and slippery. Running the same course over and over creates mud.

Looking at the “A” frame obstacle featured in this photo you can see the texture to it. Having that added texture along the walking surface I am sure is very helpful under rainy conditions.

The English Cocker Spaniel was able to get up and over that steep pitch despite the rain.

The rain also obviously gets the dog wet and can create some more interest in how the dog looks in the photo. In this photo the water slicks down the fur on the English Cocker Spaniel’s head. This actually seems to work to make the fur on their head stand out more.

The shutter speed for this image is much slower than I would normally have due to the stormy weather. So that slower shutter speed allows the raindrops to show up more clearly.
