Lighthouse Trail | Northern Mockingbird | Maryland

I don’t do a ton of travelling for bird watching. Especially not out of state bird watching.

But on occasion I will take a trip and make sure I get out to do some birding in locations I won’t likely visit again.

Back in 2014 I was down in Maryland. While I was there I visited Elk Neck State Park.

At most state parks will do, there are trails to hike.

While out on the trails you never know what you might see. For me I always hope to see wildlife. Birds or otherwise.

Trails are often marked with signage or trail markings. The trail I was on had a trail marker indicating the trail was the Lighthouse Trail.

And apparently this Northern Mockingbird wanted to draw my attention to the sign as well. Now when I look at this photo I will always know exactly where I was when this photo was taken.

This image combining the bird and the signage with the nice bright background to highlight the bird really works for me.
