One Photo A Day | Day 257 | Tunkhannock Viaduct

One photo a day challenge: Day 257.

Today was a very fun and interesting day of photography.

I went on a short road trip with my dad to check out some photography subjects.

The planned subjects for our photography were the type of subjects I generally do not shoot.

It was interesting to make a plan to go out and stretch my creativity and work on some new subject matter.

Our goal was to go to Pennsylvania and photograph three large viaducts there.

Neither of us had ever been to any of these landmarks before. So we didn’t really know what we were getting ourselves into.

We knew where the viaducts were located but we did not know where the best places to photograph them from was.

This required a little bit of explorational and creativity on our part. And even a little help form a local woman out for a walk.

We drove down to Pennsylvania to photograph the Starrucca Viaduct, Martins Creek Viaduct, and the Tunkhannock Viaduct.

We drove to the closest viaduct first, then next farthest, then the farthest away.

This worked out well because each successive viaduct was larger and more impressive than the last.

This was an interesting trip for me because I do not usually photograph man made structures or architecture.

I especially do not go on a trip specifically to photograph those types of subjects.

I really wasn’t sure how I was going to approach these subjects.

I had a lot of fun and I think I created some nice images. Best of all was just spending a day hanging out with my dad and talking about and creating art.
