Dog Show Photo | Irish Wolf Hound | New York
I love big dogs. I really love giant dogs. And the Irish Wolf Hound is a different kind of giant dog.
A lot of giant sized dogs are giant sized because they have huge thick muscular bodies and enormous heads. These dogs are massive because they have a lot of mass.
The Irish Wolf Hound is the streamlined version of a giant sized dog. Nothing about an Irish Wolf Hound looks enormous in its own right. Nothing seems out of proportion. There is a symmetry and a flow to the body of an Irish Wolf Hound.
The Irish Wolf Hound is the most regal looking giant dog. They have the size to intimidate and they look like they are built to use it.
When you look at an Irish Wolf Hound you see a dog that has a combination of size, speed, and agility. The Irish Wolf Hound is tall but its body is sturdy not lanky or thin. The legs are strong and thin. The body is thick but not too bulky to become a hinderance. The head is strong but not overwhelming.
In addition to its size the Irish Wolf Hound has this amazing thick fur. The fur is thick but not particularly long. And the fur covers the entire body including the face. The fur on the face is just enough to make the dog look serious and wise. The fur isn’t so long that it undoes the feeling of gracefulness.
