What Do You Love, Find It And Photograph It

There are so many different ways to create photography. A wide array of subjects to photograph. Different niches to explore. And there are a bevy of styles to test out.

Sometimes it can be overwhelming. Where to start?

I love to photograph our dogs playing in the yard.

My advice is always to start with what you love. You will create the best photographs when you’re re creating for a subject you care about. Art is often bout feeling and emotion more than anything else. When you care about a subject it will be easier to create art that evokes emotion.

Through practice you will gain experience. Use that experience to continue to follow this thread of advice down different avenues.

I like to go for a walk in the park and photograph the trees.

As your skills and toolset grow begin to think about what places you’d like to visit/explore. What types of subjects do you enjoy photographing? Are there places you can travel to relatively close by to photograph those subjects?

You don’t have to focus on one subject or stick with a specific subject forever. As your life’s passions change your focus in your photography can change too. I started off with an interest in a very specific niche of photography and then branched out over time.

I love to run and when I am not running I love to photograph others enjoying a run.

Now I photograph things I would never have thought I would. A lot of that is due to changes in my life. I became interested in different things and that created an interest in photographing those different things.

Creating photography doesn’t have to be location specific either. Create photography right at home. Maybe go to the park. Or even travel somewhere for a trip. Try going to an event you enjoy and taking photos. There are a lot of different ways to find subject to photograph.

Experiment and explore. That is how we find what we love and enjoy the most.
