If A Small Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | New York

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

I am mostly a big dog person. I love big dogs. The kind of dogs I want to share my home with a mostly big dogs.

Most of the dogs we have lived with have been dogs in the 80-100+ pound weight range.

But if I was going to have a small dog, I sometimes think that maybe a Pembroke Welsh Corgi would be the one.

They are really small dogs at 10-12 inches tall and only up to 30 pounds in weight.

But the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is an active herding type dog so could be a fun companion to play with and have fun.

I just worry about the size. The dog in this photo is barely as tall as this woman\s knees. And I am 6’2″. That is a long way to bend over to pet my dog, especially as I get older.

Dogs can get underfoot easy and being a large human I worry about stepping on or tripping over and falling on such a small dog.

I also worry about the size difference between the dogs we would have in our home. Even if we had a Pembroke Welsh Corgi in our home we would likely have other larger dogs. I just worry about how that would play out as well.

We have had dogs smaller than the 80+ lb. range, but those dogs are still generally in the 40+ lb. range and twice as tall as a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

I don’t know if it would ever happen, but if I ever seriously consider having a Pembroke Welsh Corgi there are a lot of considerations I would need to think through.
