Light Brown On Lighter Brown | Finnish Lapphund | New York

When I first saw a Finnish Lapphund at a dog show there were only a few.

I only even saw the breed at all sporadically at dog shows. They were not at the dog show every year.

Now the Finnish Lapphund seems to have become much more popular in our area. At recent dog shows there have been many more of them in attendance.

I have really become fascinated with this breed. They are one of my favorites to photograph right now.

I love their overall look. But while the breed in general has a particular look each individual is so different.

Each Finnish Lapphund has the same general pattern of coloration. A darker color covering most of its body. Then there is a lighter shade of fur along the chest and face.

The light color on each dog often seems to be a similar tone on most of the dogs, but there is variation there too. But each Finnish Lapphund can have a variety of shades of color for the majority of its body.

The body colors that I have seen range from black to dark brown and a light brown/orange color. And there is coat colors that are a mix of the black and brown. And even a very light brown that is only just barely darker than the lighter colors but still noticeably different.

I really love these dogs.
