Rarely Seen | Common Redpoll | New York
Some birds you see all the time. Some birds you see only a couple of times ever.
Common Redpolls are cool looking little finch type birds.
I have seen them on four occasions.
The last time I saw one was in 2013. I have not seen one since.
I love the little bits of dappled sunlight hitting the Redpoll in this photo.

Great article on being present (there) and taking shots (or life) as it’s given to you. Regarding storing food by birds, you might appreciate “The Genius of Birds”by Jennifer Ackerman. An easy and fascinating read. Many birds do it and I’ve personally seen white-breasted nuthatches hide sunflower seeds…after looking over their shoulderto be sure they weren’t being watched!
That is interesting. I will have to check out The Genius of Birds.
