One Photo A Day | Day 319 | Not Yet In Bloom

One photo a day challenge: Day 319.

I always wonder how well my plants will grow once I bring them inside.

All the plants are in different states of health from the onset of cold weather once I brought them incside.

Some still had flowers. Others had gone to more of a dormant stage.

Some of the flowers were still actively producing new flower blossoms.

One of the more hardy plants, the Gerbera Daisies, usually survive over winter to return and grow again in the spring.

But they typically go dormant even inside.

I was happy that one of the Gerbera Daisies I brought inside was beginning to grow a flower blossom.

The blossom was getting close to blooming.

I thought I had a plan for a few photo sessions with it.

The idea I had was to photograph the flower head today before it had fully bloomed. Creating images begore the petals opened.

Then after the flower head fully bloomed I would photograph the flower again in full bloom.

That was the plan at least. It did not go as I had hopped.

Today while photographing the not yet bloomed flower head one of my lights and my background fell over and landed on the flower head.

The impact broke the flower head almost completely off the stem.

I don’t think that I will be photographing that fully bloomed flower now.

But, I did at least capture some nice images today. Still, disappointing to make a critical unforced error.
