One photo a Day | Day 93 | Birding
One photo a day challenge: Day 93:
Today I spent some time at one of our local parks looking for migratory birds to photograph.
It is the time of year migratory birds start arriving in and moving through our area in New York. There is a local park right in my home town with a small lake that seems to be a regular stop over for many birds migrating up farther north.
I try to make it a habit to check it out every year and look for the birds passing through. This is the only time of year I will have a chance to photograph some of these birds.
Today there were plenty of birds on the water. However, there were not many migratory birds around today. I was fortunate enough to see some Double-crested Cormorants.
There was a small flock of the Cormorants swimming around on the lake. There were at least 13 of them. Over the course of the time I was there a few more arrived as well.
It was fun to see the cormorants, but they didn’t venture very close tot he shore so I wasn’t able to capture any great images of them. Despite not getting any nice photos of them it was nice to see them and verify that it was indeed the beginning of migration season here at our local park.
