The Goal

Often in the early months of each new year I write about how the pursuit my goals went from the previous year. Then I subsequently write about what my goals are for the new year. And when I write about my goals I always write about two separate lists of goals. I list of goals was for my running goals and the other list of goals related to my photography. I am not doing that anymore. There are no longer two lists. There is only one list and really there is only one goal and every other goal is a step along the way to achieving my most important goal.
I have been a photographer for a long time. During that time I have had a lot of successes. I have been published in print publications. I have sold artwork in galleries. I have had solo art exhibits. I have photographed community events. I have sold race photography. I have done portraits. However, all of these successes have come as I worked on my photography as my side hustle. Always splitting time between a full time job and often school and then running when I found that much needed outlet.

It is running that has taught me what I can do when I am fully committed to something. I have learned that I can take control. I can push my limits physically and mentally. When I dedicate time and effort I can achieve the results I want. I PR’d half marathons. Spent two years training for and running ultra marathons, culminating with a 100 mile race. Running also taught me you can achieve anything if you have the support of others.
So, for a long time photography has been my passion and my side hustle. I always dreamed that one day I would be able to be a full time photographer. I read books and studied and honed my craft and learned new things, but fear and anxiety always held me back and kept me from taking concrete steps to achieving my dreams. And the way to achieve ones dreams is to stop dreaming about it and set goals. So that is what I am doing. I am setting goals and I am telling you publicly about my goals so you can hold me accountable to those goals and so you can support me in achieving those goals if you so choose.

My goal is to be a full time professional photographer within 5 years and I am working every day little by little to make that happen.
I have a lot of ideas and projects in the works for 2020 and beyond and they are all in the interest of achieving this goal.
One thing I am putting in place that I have wanted to for a long time but never did is start a newsletter to help keep people informed about what KRNaturalPhoto is up to. You can sign up for that here: KRNaturalPhoto Newsletter
I am planning to start teaching photography classes and workshops. I am planning photography exhibits. I am going to start expanding my portrait offerings. I am going to pursue more publications in print media. I am going to continue to photograph local events. I am reaching out to local organizations and businesses to partner with on projects. I am going to start focusing more on selling my photography online through my website. I am going to begin pursuing more Stock photography avenues. I am going to start pursuing selling my work in local stores and small businesses. And I am going to continue working on writing a book(s) and finding an agent.

If any of these pursuits interest you or you have ideas please reach out and get in touch I would love to talk to you. If you know someone who might be interested please share this with them or tell them about my work. If you just want to support me and cheer me on as I pursue this please comment here or contact me on social media or by email. One great way you can help support me is to share this and any other post from me on your social media. It really helps spread the word about the work I do and it is especially helpful because I am really looking to work with local people, businesses, and organizations. I look forward to hearing from all of you and seeing more KRNaturalPhoto posts shared all across the social media landscape.
There will be a lot more information with a lot more detail about all of the projects I am pursuing through my newsletter and you can sign up for that here: KRNaturalPhoto Newsletter
