My Favorite Bee Photos

This is like a chicken or the egg problem for which came first in my photography. Photographing flowers or photographing insects. I enjoy both these days and have for a while.
When photographing flowers it is inevitable that you would notice more and more insects the longer you looked. So I suspect that my initial interest was in the flowers. And then upon discovering the insects I turned my lens there next.
And when paying attention to flowers one of the most easily noticeable insects is the humble bee.

Bees are almost omnipresent when observing and photographing flowers. Sometimes there are so many bees around that it is hard not to photograph a bee on a given flower.
In the photograph above I like the bright colors of the flower. And the seemingly muted color of the bee. I often think of bees as colorful and bright yellow, but compared to the colors of the flower the yellow of the bee seems dull. But the black of the bees legs and head stand out. I like how this bee takes up almost the entire head of the flower. And if you look closely at the bee you can see many of the small details of the insects head.
In the image below There are multiple bees present. Even multiple types of bees present. The bright purple of the flower that attracts my camera also seems to be attracting them. I like that I was able to capture the bees in motion with wings abuzz around but not quite on the flower.
