Snow Adds Texture To Trees

I love photographing trees because of all the variety of texture. Winter adds an extra element of texture.

I have a love hate relationship with winter. I really don’t mind cold weather as long as it isn’t extreme bitter cold. Putting on some warm clothes and heading outside for an adventure or just some fresh air is a nice experience for me. Especially if I have something to point my camera at.
But, the one thing I do ask for from winter is a little bit of snow. It doesn’t have to be a lot. Just a couple off inches. Or just enough to cover the ground. Something to take a little of the dreariness away.
The dead/dormant plants look so dreary after a while all brown and sad. The snow just bring s bit of magic to the landscape.
Trees are one of my favorite subjects. They are all around us. There are never a lack of options.
But a tree in winter is a completely different subject. Smash some snow along the side of a tree. Driving wind and freezing cold plasters ice crystals along one side of the tree. Now there is a whole new dimension of nature and life to observe and be inspired by.
Don’t be afraid of the cold. Get outside in that magic fairy dust. It doesn’t come often and doesn’t last long. Make the most of this beautiful time of year.
