Handler And Dog In Motion | Whippet | New York
The Whippet.
I like this photo of a Whippet and their handler as they begin to move around the dog show ring during conformation.
Whippet’s are one of three dog breeds often at dog shows that have a similar look to them. The Whippet, The Greyhound and the Italian Greyhound.
The most noticeable difference between the three breeds is their size. The Whippet is the medium size between the larger Greyhound and the smaller Italian Greyhound.
I sometimes have a hard time distinguishing between the three breeds in my photography.
It can be quite challenging when the dog is isolated in the photo with no other referential items in view to give the viewer a sense of scale or size.
That is one of the benefits of this photo. It shows the dog, a Whippet, in reference tot he person walking with them and the fencing. This allows the viewer to have an idea how big the dog actually is.
Photo details: Nikon D300. Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8. Focal length 200mm. ISO 400. 1/5000 sec. f/2.8.
Thanks for checking out the blog today. I hope you enjoyed the photo of the Whippet.
