Photography Subjects Are Throughout Your House

If you look around your house, there really are so many things that can be good photography subjects. The key and the hardest part is to just open your mind and think outside the box. Especially if you aren’t someone who shoots still life regularly.

It doesn’t really take a lot. A twinkle of lights here. A piece of fabric there. Look for different decorations you have around the house. Find interesting ways to use light.
Open all the curtains in the house. Look around and seye where the light naturally falls in your house. Does the light shine in differently at different times of the day? How can you use that light to compose an image?

What other activities are you involved in? Some of the tools of the trade from other activities you pursue may make for interesting subjects of a photograph.

In these photos I used drawing pencils that didn’t spend nearly enough time making marks on paper, running shoes that I didn’t actually like running in, and decorations some of which I bought specifically to photograph. There are so many different ways to think of photography and the types of subjects that can be part of an image.
I wish I had the creativity to develop some of these ideas further. What ideas do you have for creating photography using items you have in your home?
