I am not always a morning person. And I am definitely not always a wake up before sunrise person. Especially in the summer when the days are longer and the sun rises earlier in the morning.
But my job has gotten me used to getting up early for the morning commute often getting to see the sun rise on my job. And for a while I was in the habit of getting up at 5 am every day. But right now getting up early has been a struggle.
However, when we take a trip somewhere and we are fortunate enough to be somewhere that the sunrise holds potential to be particularly beautiful I will make a special effort to get up and see the sunrise at least once during the trip.
Where I live the best place to travel to for great sunsets is the east coast of the country. And I am not sure it gets more scenic and beautiful on the coast than Acadia National Park in Maine.
The coastline of Acadia National Park is one of the most stunning places I have ever been. There is such a variety of scenery that you never get board. Steep rocky outcroppings. Forests. sandy beaches. Stone covered beaches. All sorts of shapes and sizes of coastal areas.
Enjoy a sunrise anywhere and you won’t be disapointed.
We like to camp. So we camped at one of the campgrounds located within the national park boundaries. And the campground where we have stayed is within a short walk of the the ocean. So we committed to getting up early to make sure we could walk down to the coast and watch the sunrise.
We were treated to nice subtle shades of colors in the sky. Silhouetted trees and forests. And then there is a hint of color in the ocean water.
I need to make this more of a tradition when I am on trips because it really is enjoyable and you can always go back to bed or take a nap later.
Have you been someplace where you really enjoyed the sunset?
