Wings In Motion | Common Grackle | New York

I have often seen Common Grackles around bodies of water.

I never thought of them as water birds. But I have seen them doing some interesting things around the water.

Catching crayfish. Hopping from stone to stone. Bathing in the water.

Then flapping and shaking water off everywhere.

The Common Grackle featured below had been playing in the water. You can see the sparkles of water droplets along its head and body.

Also love the way the slower shutter speed required by dimmer lighting was just perfect to show the motion of the wings as the Common Grackle takes off.
